Hannibal Regional Medical Group recently donated $1,000 to the Monroe City Senior Nutrition Center to help with the cost of a summer lunch program for Monroe City school children. The program was started to meet the nutritional needs of students who, because of the cancellation of summer school, would not get a hot lunch.
"To be able to be part of the educational journey of our children is uplifting and exciting," explained Richard Draper, DO, Medical Director-Hannibal Regional Medical Group. "We would like to invite others to participate as well."
Monroe City Community Betterment is working with the Monroe City Senior Nutrition Center to prepare a daily meal (Monday - Friday) for 27 students. The program will run for 11 weeks from June 1 to August 13. Volunteers have been organized to deliver the meals to the students' homes.
